Tree camping in Germany.

There’s camping and then there’s tree camping. In a forest in Bavaria, Germany, you can sleep in a tent suspended up in the trees and the only way to get there is by rope. The tents are one of the sleeping options at Waldseilgarten, a mountain adventure resort in the Pfronten mountains in southern Germany. The tents are portaledges — portable hanging tent systems that rock climbers often use, which are suspended from a single point and use a metal frame to support the base of the tent. At Waldseilgarten, these tents are suspended from thick tree branches, giving campers incredible views of the surrounding forest and mountains.
The resort has ropes courses, zip lining, slack lining and an obstacle course that covers them all. In order to get to your tent, you’ll need to get some instruction in rope techniques and you’ll get helped up to your tent via rope with assistance from the ground.
Not quite extreme enough? You can also choose to sleep in a portaledge suspended on the side of a 2000-metre cliff. A night in the trees starts at $335 per person.
