The Lower Kachura Lake in Pakistan, is also known as the “Shangrila Lake” due to the – “Shangrila resort” located on the edges of the lake.
Shangrila Resort Hotel was founded by Muhammad Aslam Khan, the first commander of the Northern Scouts of the Pakistan Army.
The Shangrila was named after the book “Lost Horizon” which speaks of a place which is heaven on earth, Shangri-la in Tibetan means “Heaven on earth”.
